Fear can be paralyzing. It can make decisions harder than they need to be, with thoughts of what could go wrong keeping us from doing anything. In those moments, one important question to keep in mind is, “What’s the worst that could happen?”

Because sometimes the very worst thing that could happen isn’t ultimately that bad. It might not be that good, it may be embarrassing, it may hurt a little, but it also might not be a life shattering, devastating disaster either. And if the worst case scenario isn’t that bad, that knowledge can help us go ahead make a decision and move on.

Because if the downside isn’t that great, it’s often better to make a decision–even one that turns out wrong—and to keep moving, than to allow fear to paralyze us from making a decision at all.
