The ideal for many today is to have a “balanced” life. But what if the quest for “balance” actually was keeping up from doing things that could or should be done?

Often, what we really need is “focus,” not “balance,” because sometimes the only way to achieve something is through sustained, focused attention. But if we’re concerned that this kind of prolonged, focused attention isn’t very “balanced,” we may fail to invest the time or energy when it’s needed.
