Learning from a Distance

The great thing about reading is that it gives us the opportunity to learn from people we would otherwise never come in contact with. Whether it be from millennia ago, or from the other side of the world, written communication can travel over differences in time and place.

Writing gives everyone, both ancient and contemporary, near and far, a chance to share their message. And reading gives each of us a chance to hear it — to learn from those we may never meet, and to listen to those we may never see.
